Xylem Inc. is one of the world’s leading water technology companies, operating in 150+ countries and consisting of 39 product brands. Their customers work in diverse regions and environments around the world and need Xylem support at their figure tips. Sometimes this support takes the shape of online product information or maintenance videos – other times, Xylem customers need quick access to an engineering expert that can help finalize their product selection. But for both needs, existing Xylem websites fell short of the mark. Spark stepped in to help re-align Xylem’s web domains and improve the overall customer service experience online.

Xylem was faced with a unique challenge because their brand websites were out-dated and underperforming from both an SEO and lead-generation perspective. Customers couldn’t find the right contact information in order to get expert help and there was a lack of product information available online. The websites also failed to connect complementary brands to each other and articulate Xylem’s real value as a holistic solution provider for the transportation, treatment and delivery of water from its source to homes around the world.
What We Did
In order to communicate a solution story to consumers, Spark designed a scaleable website framework that combined multiple brands together into a single website experience which was centered around a specific water application. The experience framework was fully responsive so that customers could access vital product and support information regardless of device or location. The templates and content components used throughout the website were also flexible, giving the business a versatile tool set to support variances in product availability and marketing collateral around the world.
Spark identified select features and functionality that would support key customer and business goals. Geolocation was leveraged to automatically display the nearest Xylem location and contact details to site visitors as well as a robust interactive map. Templates included easy access to web-based forms allowing the customer to contact Xylem regardless less urgent requests. Intelligent cross-linking functionality connected visitors with content and products that were related to their search and browse needs.
To-date, three distinct application websites have been rolled out on the designed experience framework. Overall web traffic is up 40%.
